The basic back-to-school checklist for parents
A new school year is almost here.
After a long holiday, it is time to set the alarm clock again and wake up early to prep your kids for a day of school!
Getting back into the normal routine is the hardest part of starting a new school year for both parents and children.
Here are some tips to help you and your little one get back into school-time mode:
Get back to the schedule
Start the school bedtime schedule a week before the first day of school in order to get them used to waking up early again.
Put children to bed 10 minutes earlier every night to make the switch easier.
Promote healthy eating habits
Provide nutritious and frequent snacks to children around regular mealtimes.
Ask them to help you create a school lunch menu for their first week of school.
Prepare the child
There are a few things that need to be figured out before the start of school.
- Ask them to list the three things they are most excited about on the first day of school.
- Discuss their worries and encourage solving the problem.
- Encourage them to read before school begins.
- Create a homework space.
Sort out all requirements
Make sure all the basic requirements are taken care of.
- Familiarize yourself with all the information on the school’s website.
- Read the school handbook for rules and regulations.
- Make sure all the required immunizations/eyesight tests are up-to-date.
- Confirm any school care that your child may need during the school year.
- Double check their transportation plan.
- Have a backup transportation plan in place.

The most important thing is to get all the school supplies for your children.
